A 2-time Mr. Basketball USA (1957, 1958) while at Middletown High School, Lucas led the Middies to a 76-1 record, winning 2 state championships. As a collegian, Lucas led the Ohio State Buckeyes to 3 straight NCAA finals (1960-1962), winning the national championship in 1960. He is the only 3-time Big Ten Basketball Player of the Year. During his NBA career he played for the Cincinnati Royals (1963-1969)
