A 48x48” color field painting - part 2 🌷 I really love the texture that’s happening on this painting, but I didn’t want to be afraid of covering it up. I wanted to put subtle layers of thin color within the same blue color scheme and just see what happened. I ended up watering down my paint and using saran wrap to pick up the paint and lay it on my canvas. I repeated this and then used a trowel to spread out some of the paint. A 48x48” color field painting - part 4 🌷 For this last stage - what I call the last 10% - is when I begin some thinking. And quite honestly, I wasn’t really sure what to do to finish this piece. I knew that the top edge of the painting was bothering me the most, so I started there. I ended up adding more paint with both a palette knife and a toothbrush, some marks with a China marker, and a bit of collage.
