On this day 95 years ago, Dr. Robert Goddard launched the first liquid-propelled rocket from a farm in Massachusetts. Though the rocket only reached 41 feet in altitude, it brought us one step closer to using rockets regularly in space exploration. Goddard's launch preceded other firsts, including launching the first rocket with a scientific payload in 1929. His work remains foundational to rocketry today, and it is in his honor that your friendly, neighborhood space flight center is named. More
