Feb 3, 2025 · The Government of the Republic of Botswana (“GRB”) and De Beers Group (“De Beers”) are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of negotiations focused on establishing a new sales agreement for Debswana’s rough diamond production, as well as extending Debswana’s mining licences beyond 2029.

It is Debswana’s oldest operating mine and the largest open-pit diamond mine in the world, second only to Jwaneng in terms of production values. It is located in eastern Botswana, 240km west of Francistown, the centre of southern Africa’s first gold rush.
