When night falls during this time, eyes are drawn to the night sky to see the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. This is usually considered one of the best meteor showers of the year, sometimes featuring numerous meteors.

Known as one of the top meteor showers of the year because of its many bright shooting stars, the Perseid shower started producing some meteors on July 17 and will continue to do so through Aug. 23, according to the American Meteor Society.

The Perseids are the most popular show of shooting stars, as they peak on warm summer nights as seen from the northern hemisphere. The meteor shower became active on July 17 and lasts until Aug. 23.
