Far from being a deadly sin, it makes you kinder and more compassionate. People who possess this kind of pride are happy, healthy, popular and prestigious. And then there’s the other kind.

Pride, or hubris, is one of the seven deadly sins. In fact, it is considered by scholars to be the original and most serious of the sins. It separates one from their community and from God.

We are all prone to it. It is the seed of every sin. In particular, for myself as a student of philosophy and a convert to Catholicism, intellectual pride is a strong temptation.
