Attorney General Pam Bondi has named the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration to be Washington’s “emergency police commissioner” as she carries out President Donald Trump’s unprecedented decision to take over the Washington police department.

Terry Cole, the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been named Washington DC's ‘emergency’ police chief. Attorney General Pam Bondi's announcement on Thursday came amid a driven effort to execute President Donald Trump's plans of taking over the Washington Police Department.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a directive issued Thursday evening that DEA boss Terry Cole will assume “powers and duties vested in the District of Columbia Chief of Police.”

Fear and confusion are spreading within Washington, DC’s homeless population at the start of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on encampments.
