The Falcons offensive line is having a tough day on the injury front on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that tackle Storm Norton is set to miss six-to-eight weeks after having ankle surgery. Norton has been sideline for an extended period of time this month.
Per Schefter, swing tackle and key Kaleb McGary insurance Storm Norton had ankle surgery yesterday, which comes with a recovery timeline of 6-8 weeks. That would put him on track to return sometime in October, which is better than missing the season but makes for a very scary problem at this moment in time.
Unfortunately for Penix, he and the Falcons received a double dose of bad news on Wednesday. Starting right tackle Kaleb McGary was carted off the field at practice with what the Falcons suggested was a lower left leg injury; the team also announced that McGary, a mainstay in the Falcons’ lineup since debuting in 2019, will undergo an MRI.
The Atlanta Falcons suddenly find themselves in critical condition at right tackle after Kaleb McGary went down and injury news on Storm Norton broke.
The Falcons lost Kaleb McGary due to an injury, it is just a matter of when he can come back. Atlanta can swing a trade for a Super Bowl Champion.
Falcons backup swing tackle Storm Norton underwent ankle surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Elijah Wilkinson replaced McGary at practice.
Head coach Raheem Morris said Monday that he doesn't expect Norton (lower body) to return to practice ahead of Friday's preseason finale against the Cowboys, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
