A Mega Millions ticket sold in Michigan won $1 million, just missing the $62 million jackpot, lottery officials said. The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Tuesday, Jan. 7, the national Mega Millions site said.

According to Ohio Lottery documents, someone in Ohio purchased a Mega Millions ticket worth $10,000. The winning ticket matched four out of five numbers plus the Mega Ball in the Tuesday, Jan. 8 drawing, the lottery reported. But, details on where in Ohio the winning ticket was sold were not immediately released.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery drawing has jumped to an estimated $62 million with a cash option of $27.4 million. The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia. The Mega Millions lottery jackpot was an estimated $62 million with a cash option of $27.4 million for Tuesday night's drawing, according to the Mega Millions website. The jackpot was last won on on Dec. 27 when a lottery player in California won $1.269 billion - the fifth largest Mega Millions ever.

“We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as holiday gifts, and what a gift that would turn out to be if you ended up with a ticket worth a $1.15 billion jackpot,” Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, said in a news release before the jackpot rose again to $1.22 billion.
