North Carolina football, under the direction of Bill Belichick, continues to shape together the football coaching staff for the next season. That list now includes another big name from a CFP-featured program.

Moving on from longtime head coach Mack Brown, who took over in 2019, felt inevitable because, in 2024, the team went just 6-7, lost to the UConn Huskies 27-14 in the Fenway Bowl, and had its second losing season in four years after going 6-7 in 2021.

When the North Carolina Tar Heels decided to part ways with Mack Brown, they saw a few recruits decommit and look elsewhere for an opportunity. But now with Bill Belichick as head coach, there's a chance some could come back including a key four-star edge rusher.

Belichick, 72, has been active in the transfer portal as he builds his first roster in the collegiate ranks. The six-time Super Bowl winner and former New England Patriots head coach has added 10 transfer additions thus far while filling the void left by 19 transfer exits.

After Bill Belichick spent nearly a quarter century on the sidelines as head coach of the New England Patriots and 48 years overall as an NFL coach, it may be hard to picture him coaching University of North Carolina football.
