Alexa’s big AI revamp may have just been delayed, again – and it sounds like Amazon’s assistant is getting dumber rather than smarter.

Amazon is set to release its long-awaited - and delayed - Alexa generative artificial intelligence voice service, said three people familiar with the matter, and has scheduled a press event for later this month to preview it.

Amazon today sent out invites for an AI-focused event that will be held on February 26, and according to Reuters, the company plans to introduce

Though the updated version of Alexa was originally expected to land in late February, it is now pegged for March 31 or later.

Amazon will soon show off a much-delayed new version of its Alexa virtual assistant, but the upgrade still won’t be ready for public release.

Concerns over accuracy lead to another delay for the souped-up virtual assistant — but the launch showcase will still go ahead.
