In Southern California, between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell in the Los Angeles Basin, Mike Wofford, a meteorologist for the weather service, told SFGATE Friday. Downtown Los Angeles received 2.94 inches of rain. The highest totals were reported in the mountains, ranging from 3 to 6 inches.

In the Los Angeles area, the burn scars that carry the highest risk are those from the Eaton and Palisades fires from January and the Bridge fire from the fall.

The rain was expected to continue into Friday, Feb. 14. Advisories issued by the National Weather Service include: • A flood watch for most of the Bay Area from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 p.m. Saturday. • A high wind watch for most of the Bay Area from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for today calls for up to an 80 percent chance of precipitation before sunset, and up to 100 percent chance of heavy rain at night.

The National Weather Service said 2-4 inches of rain are expected in lower elevations, 4-8 inches in the higher ones.
