The Minnesota Vikings will be without quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the Week 17 Christmas Day game against the Detroit Lions due to a hairline fracture in his hand.
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell announced Tuesday that J.J. McCarthy suffered a small hairline fracture in his throwing hand and will miss Thursday’s game against the Lions. The QB could play the Week 18 finale.
McCarthy left Minnesota's Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants after suffering a hand injury. After X-rays came back negative, it appeared that McCarthy had suffered a broken bone in his hand. The injury occurred when he hit his hand on the helmet of Vikings defensive end Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins.
