President-elect Donald Trump said his inauguration will take place in the Capitol Rotunda due to dangerously low temperatures.

Since inaugurations started to be held outside in 1817, Trump's will be just the fourth inauguration in history to be held inside. Between 1789 and 1817, for the swearing in of presidents George Washington, Jon Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison, inaugurations took place indoors.

Trump's inauguration will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda, with the parade taking place in Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Controversy over President-elect Trump's inaugural crowd sizes likely will remain out of the conversation since the ceremony will be moved indoors due to harsh weather conditions.
