The Liberal Democrats have called for a review of the terrorism law used to arrest hundreds of supporters of the banned group Palestine Action, warning it risked having a "chilling effect" on free speech. Last week, the Metropolitan Police arrested more than 500 people at a demonstration backing the group, which was prohibited in July.

The home secretary Yvette Cooper has faced intense criticism for choosing to proscribe PA, even from fellow Labour MPs like Clive Lewis, who warned the proscription “undermined democracy” and told parliament it risks “confusing dissent and terror”.
