A shooting in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Staten Island ended with one person dead, police say.The New York City Police Department said a man who pointed a gun at police was shot and killed early Thursday morning.

Police said officers responded to a call about a man with a firearm inside a vehicle and "officers ran toward gunfire and bravely confronted danger."

The gunman was found firing his weapon in the air at a parking lot of a Home Depot in Charleston after he called 911 about 5:20 a.m. Thursday.
