Grade 1 Kentucky Derby-winner Sovereignty arrived early Thursday morning at Saratoga Race Course to begin his preparations for the Grade 1, $2 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets on June 7 at the Spa.

Sovereignty not only won the Derby but did what 2019 winner Country House could not for trainer Bill Mott — he crossed first.

There will be no Triple Crown winner in horse racing this year. Sovereignty, the three-year-old thoroughbred who won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, will not race in the Preakness Stakes – the second leg of the three races that make up the Triple Crown.
