The beloved Georgia restaurant chain is unsure how long the egg shortage will last. It's unclear when the surcharge will no longer be in effect.

But nothing has captured as much media attention as the ultimate insult to all-night breakfast-lovers: an egg surcharge at Waffle House. That does it. The restaurant chain says it has been forced to respond to the spiraling cost of whole eggs.

Customers report that the announcement has been posted throughout Waffle House locations, on menus and signs in the dining room. The chain, which serves over 272 millions eggs a year, has been especially impacted by the price increase.
