The ute contained a “significant amount” of tools in the tray and the cab. It’s believed to be tens of thousands worth but an exact amount has not been confirmed yet.

A majority of occupants, mostly children, were believed to be in the ute’s tray at the time of the crash. A 16-year-old boy was reportedly flung from the 4WD’s tray and died at the scene.

An 18-year-old on his P-plates has been reported and may face other charges after he allegedly crashed his ute while two passengers were riding in the tray on the Yorke Peninsula overnight.
