Seattle Fire Department crews found the deceased person while extinguishing a fire across several tents at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Hanford Street, fire spokesperson David Cuerpo said. The 911 calls came in around 6:07 a.m.

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle City Council voted today to appoint Mark A. Solomon to fill the vacant position on the Council, representing District 2. After five rounds of voting, Solomon received the necessary five-vote majority for the appointment to the position, replacing Tammy Morales. She resigned Jan. 6.
