External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar unveiled key developments in the Passport Seva Programme (PSP) and confirmed the countrywide implementation of e-Passports.

An e-passport is embedded with an electronic chip that stores biometric and personal information of the passport holder.

The biggest advantage of having an ePassport is its enhanced ability to maintain the integrity of the passport holder's data. It will have the data in printed form in the booklet.
