The Sugar Bowl sponsors the NOLA New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show, produced by the Crescent City Countdown Club in partnership with the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund. The fireworks show will follow a free New Year’s Eve concert that begins at 9 p.m. in Woldenberg Park.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans welcomed 2026 in familiar style, as a glowing fleur-de-lis descended over the French Quarter at midnight. The glowing symbol slid down a 25-foot pole from the top of the Jax Brewery building as the crowd counted down to the New Year. Moments later, fireworks lit up the sky over the Mississippi River.

There is a lot of behind-the-scenes activity, particularly with the State Fusion Center and federal intelligence,” New Orleans emergency preparedness director Collin Arnold said of the New Year’s safety operation.
