The Downpatrick community is in a “state of shock” after police launched a murder investigation into the death of a father-of-two which is believed to be linked to an attack on a priest.

A 30-year-old man arrested following the death of a man and an attack on a priest in Co Down is being questioned on suspicion of both murder and attempted murder, police have said.
