Israel and Iran initially indicated backing for a ceasefire announced by President Trump, but air raid sirens soon rang out again in Israel.

President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, after more than a week of fighting following Israel's strikes -- and subsequent U.S. attacks -- on Iran's nuclear program.

Iran fired a final wave of deadly missiles at Israel before acknowledging the deal, while Israel said it accepted the proposal because all its military objectives were already achieved.
