The BSE Sensex rebounded by 147 points in a range-bound session on Tuesday, halting its five-day decline due to increased buying in financial and FMCG stocks.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a muted start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 22,595.00 level, a discount of nearly 17 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The BSE Sensex fell 418.12 points or 0.56 per cent to 74,892.94. Nifty stood at 22,656.25, down 139.65 points or 0.68 per cent.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex rose 147.71 points or 0.20 per cent to close at 74602.12. The NSE Nifty went down by 5.80 points or 0.03 per cent to close at 22547.55.​​​​

On February 25, the Sensex rose by 0.20% to 74,602.12, breaking a five-day losing streak, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.03% to 22,547.55. Broader indices underperformed, and several stocks hit 52-week highs and lows amid mixed sectoral performances.

Sensex and Nifty 50 on Monday (February 24) fall 1 per cent each within the first 45 minutes of the trade, tracking the weak global cues. The Nifty 50 has hit 8-month low as it fell below 22600.
