Alex DeBrincat scored his second goal of the night with 4:18 into overtime and the Detroit Red Wings edged the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Sunday night.

This was a game that the Canucks dominated from an analytics perspective. At even strength, they held a 30-15 scoring chances advantage while also winning the high-danger scoring chances battle 14-2. In the end, though, they weren't able to capitalize on their opportunities as they ended up falling once again in overtime.

It clearly makes a difference to be able to get their top defensive players out in the matchups they want. When the Flames do run into defensive trouble, rookie Dustin Wolf has proven himself capable of bailing the team out.
