HBO Max might not be the first name fans think of it when it comes to anime, but a new streaming deal is set to change that.

Renowned international animation distributor Gkids has struck a new deal with HBO Max that will expand upon their partnership, with HBO Max continuing to serve as the U.S. streaming destination for Gkids’ award-winning Japanese,

Starting Sept. 1, the works of Makoto Shinkai along with “Your Name,” “Shin Godzilla,” and “Perfect Blue,” will be among the titles having their streaming debut. HBO Max is already home to the Studio Ghibli catalog in the United States, distributed by GKIDS.
