WASHINGTON — The White House plans to limit intelligence sharing with members of Congress after an early assessment of damage caused by U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites leaked this week, a senior White House official confirmed to NBC News.

Representatives Jake Auchincloss and Seth Moulton struck a different tone on President Trump's Iran strikes than many of their Democratic colleagues.

While Trump did not seek approval, he sent congressional leaders a short letter Monday serving as his official notice of the strikes, which occurred Saturday between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. EDT, or roughly 2:10 a.m. on Sunday in Iran.

Four Trump administration officials will brief senators Thursday afternoon on the U.S. bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, as lawmakers and the White House clash over access to intelligence about the strikes.
